The Business Executive Media Group (TBE Media Group) is currently undertaking the preparations for its hosting of The Greater Accra Business Merit Awards. This is the latest in a series of awards schemes, under which Ghana’s 16 administrative regions have been segregated into several geographical groups, with a view to identifying and publicly recognizing exemplary business organizations with regards to performance and impact in both the public and private sectors, as well as entrepreneurs, investors and corporate/institutional managers who have shown extraordinary competence, conduct and accomplishments.
Instructively the Greater Accra Region is the only region which is focused on singularly, since all the other regions are parts of groups based on geographical proximity. GAR is getting its own awards scheme because of the unmatched, intense concentration of both privately owned and state controlled enterprises, which exceed the sheer number of similar enterprises elsewhere around the country and offer more diversity with regards to size, scope of activities and ownership structures.
To be eligible for consideration for an enterprise/institutional award a nominated organization must be domiciled (head office or national representative office in the case of a multinational organization) within the Greater Accra Region. Both privately owned enterprises, indigenously owned and foreign owned inclusive, are eligible, as well as Ghanaian state owned enterprises engaged at least partly in commercial activities.
To be eligible for consideration for an individual award, a nominee must be an entrepreneur, business owner, investor and/or enterprise/institutional manager, domiciled primarily in the Greater Accra Region. Both private sector and public sector organization chieftains are eligible and consideration for conferment of vawards is open to both indigenes and foreigners who meet the aforementioned eligibility criteria.
